Handmade gifts.

This was a baby Levi's jacket that I purchased online and hand embroidered my niece's name, Harper, on the back of for her first birthday. I really love how it turned out and can't wait for her to wear it! I was inspired to do this project from this blog post: Honestly WTF.

Since I now have two nieces and two nephews, I decided that I needed to make their Christmas presents this past year. The below picture is of the canvas backpack's I made them and hand embroidered their initial's on (Ben, Anna, Ollie & Harper). Each pack was made to fit and had a unique cute printed lining to match their personalities. :)

Design Week Portland: Wood Mosaic.

Last week was Design Week Portland and I was honored to be a part of it. I was in a group of other artists that put on a fundraiser art show gallery event. We sold our artwork to raise money for The Friends of Outdoor School, pretty rad!!! Here is the artwork that I submitted for the show. All wood was driftwood found in various spots in the Northwest and thoughtfully crafted into this mosaic. I really love how it turned out and its even more rewarding that it was purchased and will be a part of someones lovely home.

The final piece.

First step was to collect the driftwood and sort it.

Second step was cutting, cutting and some more cutting. Followed by planning out the pattern.

Third step was laying them all out to play around with the many options the layout could go.

Fourth step was to hand sand and glue each piece in... this proved to be very time consuming! ;)
